Has the March matness bug bitten you, yet? A mat at tempo is a humble reminder that consistency makes better never perfect. The next two weeks still focus on the classical order, but at a slightly slower pace (emphasis on the word “slightly”).
Most people don’t think the mat is equipment because there aren’t springs. But the mat is the best piece of equipment because you learn how to work with just your body in relationship to gravity.
With that being said, we’d like to pose a few questions that you can ask yourself during mat class to foster a body, mat relationship:
- What parts of my body are or are not touching the mat?
- So what?
- How is gravity affecting my body’s relationship with my mat?
- Are there times where parts of my body are completely off of the mat?
- If yes, why?
Without further ado, here are this week’s live stream class themes.
Monday, March 13th @ 12PM with Destinie:
Today’s class focuses on the first half of the classical mat order. Did you know that the classical mat order is meant to be done with no breaks in between exercises? That’s right–3x5 sets of footwork + point and flex, then right into the hundreds. HELLO ABDOMINALS. We’ll test our stamina today by flowing from one exercise to the next, leaving our rest (and curse words) off camera.
Wednesday, March 15th @ 8AM with Destinie:
GRAB BAG! Feel like you slept funny last night? No need to start Pilates with a kink in your neck; a short 5-minute neck release can help. Make sure you ask you body what it needs, then tell Destinie
