Our last animal-themed class in Ssseptember is all about ssstrength, ssstretch, and using your sssenses. Can you guess which animal we pay homage to thisss week?
If you guessed sssnail or sssloth, we get your vibe, but this week’s animal isn’t furry or fluffy, it doesn’t even have legs (oh my!).
That's right, we're channeling our inner snake this Monday! What better way to end the month than by focusing on an animal that relies solely on its core to move? Snakes have diverse movement patterns, including:
- Undulatory Locomotion: The snake's signature S-shaped movement, great for propelling forward.
- Rectilinear Locomotion: A slow, creeping motion, ideal for controlled movement and achieved by a snake using its belly scales to grip the ground.
- Coiling: Not a movement, but a testament to flexibility—think defensive and resting poses.
- Tail Rattling: Rattlesnakes do this as a warning—we call it "booty shaking."
S-Shaped, controlled movement, a healthy resting pose, and booty shaking? Can you ask for much more? Join Nicole tomorrow to explore the snake-y elements in Pilates. You’re sssure to love it!
CLASS THEMES
Monday, September 25th @ 12pm with Nicole:
Just as a snake relies on its core strength to gracefully maneuver through the grass, our abdominal muscles play a crucial role in our ability to twist, side-bend, and move with fluidity. Today, we're going to emulate the fluid and sinuous motions of these fascinating reptiles. Props: Towel
Wednesday, September 27th @ 8am with Mollie:
BYOR: Bring Your Own Request! No one loves a request more than Mollie does, so don’t be shy, shout it out at the beginning of class!
